Wire Systems Technology is South Africa's leading manufacturer and supplier of winding wire and electrical insulation materials. WST is synonymous with the supply of quality product, service and technical innovation to the electrical machines industry throughout Southern Africa. We are a technology driven company, wholly owned by TT electronics plc of the U.K. Our current staff complement, consisting of over 250 full time employees, includes professional engineers, insulation technologists and management with 170 years of application engineering experience. Through the expertise of our people we aim to give credence to our business approach "Total Solutions Through Constructive Partnerships".
We have four manufacturing sites and two branches, with activities split into four divisions; viz. Enamelled wires, Textile Covered wires, Insulations and Sales & Distribution.

WST Enamels Division, situated in two factories in Springs, produces round and rectangular copper and aluminium enamelled wire. Standard enamel grades include Polyurethane, PVA and Polyester-Imide with an Amide-Imide topcoat.
Also available as self-bonding. WST has invested heavily into state-of-the-art wire enamelling equipment suited to the market served.

WST Textiles Division, with the factory located in Vereeniging, completes the range of insulated wire by producing round and rectangular taped and glass covered aluminium and copper conductors. Standard coverings include mica, paper, Kapton®, Mylar®, Nomex® and varnished glass. Many of the products are custom made to suit individual requirements.

The wire divisions produce most of their own wire, using continuous cast copper rod supplied by Palabora Mining Company and in-house manufactured dies. This gives WST total quality control and production flexibility, combined with the ability to offer quick response times.

WST Insulations Division is based in City Deep, Johannesburg, where a wide range of flexible composited and narrow woven tapes are manufactured. The factory is additionally fully equipped with a complete range of converting facilities for slitting, punching and machining of both flexible and rigid materials.

WST Sales & Disitribution is strategically situated in City Deep, with branches and Cape Town and Springs and distributors in all major centres in Southern Africa. The range of products manufactured in-house by the Insulations division is complemented by a full spectrum of factored electrical insulation materials, winding process equipment and winding test equipment.
These products originate from leading global suppliers such as Du Pont (Mylar®, Nomex®, Kapton®, Teflon®), Jones Stroud Insulations, Krempel, Epoxylite, Omerin, Munksjo, Rescal, Cogebi, Electrom Corporation and Vogelsang & Benning.

WST's primary focus is in the supply of materials and technology into the electrical machines manufacturing and repair markets where our specialist expertise is well recognised.
Our aim is to grow our business by applying our professional insulation engineering skills as "partners" with our customers to develop and exploit opportunities and solve problems in electrical machines. However, the diverse product range also finds application in many other electrical and non-electrical markets such as automotive, packaging, domestic appliance, defence, chemical processing and industrial heating.

Quality Assurance is central to company policy. The Quality Systems of all WST Divisions were listed to ISO 9001:2000 in 2003. In addition to this, WST Enamels Division also holds a permit to apply the SABS Certification Mark to its round enamelled copper conductors.
