For many years C200 enamelled wire was the Low Voltage Machines industry standard for copper winding wire. C200 has an enamel covering consisting of a modified Polyester Imide and is suitable for use in hermetically sealed refrigeration units.
An improvement has been made with the introduction of C200X which is produced in accordance with IEC 317-13.
C200X has an additional Amide Imide top coat which has a lower co-efficient of friction to improve the high speed winding characteristics of the wire. As a result of this it is possible to form tighter coils with less risk of mechanical damage.
The top coat also improves the chemical and moisture withstand properties for use in oil cooled transformers.
Another feature of the top coat is an improvement in the thermal withstand. The enamel covering has a Thermal index of 214°C when tested in accordance with IEC 851.
The standard range for C200X in round wire is from 0,200 to 5,000mm.
Unless otherwise specified all rectangular wire is produced with the Amide Imide top coat.
