In spite of the ever-increasing number of new insulating materials being used, paper covered wire and strip are still extensively used for windings on transformers and switchgear. Kraft Paper is a Class "Y" insulation suitable for use at a maximum operating temperature of 90°C. When impregnated or immersed in mineral transformer oil, Kraft paper has a Class "A" rating (105°C).
Only the very highest quality Kraft papers are used to ensure the total absence of metallic and other impurities. During the application of the paper every care is taken to prevent the inclusion of copper dust and to ensure that a perfect and crease-free covering is produced.
WST Textiles is able to meet all common international specifications as well as customer's own specifications if required.
There is a new and exciting development in Kraft paper covered conductors and is available only from WST Textiles.
The development is a special treatment of the Kraft paper providing better "windability", reducing scuffing of the paper during processing, both in the covering process and the manufacture of coils. This treatment also enhances bedding down allowing for tighter and more compact coils.
